Short answer: a new car lift in the UK costs from about £1,450 for a portable mid rise scissor lift to £5,500 for a 4 post wheel alignment lift fitted and running. A typical 4 tonne 2 post lift for a home garage or workshop is £1,700 delivered or £2,000 delivered and installed. Below are our current prices and what changes the cost.

All prices include delivery to mainland England and Wales by our own vans. Scotland is £100 extra. You pay on delivery, nothing upfront.

What changes the price
- Type of lift. Mid rise scissor lifts are the cheapest because they lift about one metre for wheels, tyres and brakes. 2 post lifts cost more and give full standing height under the car. 4 post lifts cost the most because they carry the car on two runways and can also be used for parking.
- Capacity. Going from 4 tonnes to 5 tonnes adds about £300 on a 2 post lift, and 6 tonnes adds about £1,100. Buy for the heaviest vehicle you will lift, with some margin, not for the average car.
- Installation. Fitting by our engineers adds £100 to £150 on mid rise scissor lifts, £300 to £600 on 2 post lifts and £800 on 4 post lifts.
- Extras. Extra supports for 2 post lifts are £300. A middle jack for the 4000kg 4 post lift is £650, so you can lift the wheels off the runways for brake and suspension work.
- Location. Delivery to Scotland adds £100. We do not deliver to Ireland, but your own courier can collect from our warehouse in Purfleet, Essex.
Costs people forget
- The floor. A lift is bolted to concrete. Smaller lifts need concrete of at least 3,000 PSI and at least 5 inches thick. If your floor is thinner, budget for a new slab before the lift arrives.
- Power supply. Electro-hydraulic lifts run from a power unit. Tell us what supply your garage has before ordering.
- Servicing. A lift needs checking and lubricating to stay safe. We service and repair lifts and supply spare parts.
Is it cheaper to install a car lift yourself?
You save £100 to £800 by fitting it yourself, but a lift holds a car above your head. The posts must be anchored correctly, levelled and the safety locks set up. If you are not sure, take the installed option: our engineers fit it, test it and show you how to use it, and you get an 18-month parts warranty either way.
